As the title suggests, Henry and Mudge and the bedtime thumps is one of the books in the Henry and Mudge series.  They go to Henry's grandmother house in the country.  Mudge never slept outside, so Henry worried.  More Henry worried to Mudge might drool on her skirt and might eat her coffee table.
